Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN), in strategic collaboration with Elena Geo Tech Pvt Ltd, will develop an Indonesian satellite positioning, Navigation, and training (PNT) system.
The President Director of PSN, Adi Rahman Adiwoso, conveyed that Elena’s company track record in manufacturing satellite-based navigation systems was considered in this strategic collaboration, precisely amidst the significant growth of the satellite industry in India due to the aggressive India government efforts in advancing local satellite industry. As a result, India managed to possess the Navigation with the Indian Constellation that the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) developed.
“These two aspects were vital considerations for us when collaborating with Elena. Through this momentum, we will also maximize technology transfer. For this reason, Indonesia is expected to produce its own satellite-based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) system,” Adi added.
The satellite PNT system uses satellites to provide accurate position, Navigation, and time information. The development of this satellite navigation system will benefit the transportation services sector, air and sea navigation, and defense. All PNT industries can accurately determine position, speed, direction, and timeliness by applying satellite navigation in Indonesia.
“The international collaboration between PSN and Elena shows that we continue to strengthen the space ecosystem by building manufacturing capabilities in the Indonesian satellite industry, one of which is the satellite-based PNT system. By being managed independently, we will continue to support the government in creating economic independence in the national satellite industry,” PSN’s Technology Director, Satrio Adiwicaksono, affirmed.
