In early collaboration, Amartha has managed to channel the capital at US$7.6 million (around Rp114 billion).

Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT Amartha Mikro Fintek (Amartha) announced its strategic affiliation with an Indonesia startup, eFishery, to boost food security through strengthening the potential of aquaculture. The collaboration will provide inclusive financial access for Indonesia’s cultivators, expecting to unlock potential in developing their businesses in the fishery industry.

The Head of Business Partnership Lending of Amartha, Adityo Putranto, delivered that Indonesia’s aquaculture sector has considerable potential to retain food security. This is reinforced by the fact that Indonesia is currently the largest aquaculture-producing country worldwide, with a production volume of 14.8 million tonnes. According to the FAO, Indonesia‘s aquaculture even will continue to evolve up to 26% by 2030.

However, he delivered that limited access to capital remains the cultivators’ challenges to scale up their business capacity. Through this collaboration, Adityo aims to grant access to cultivators to deliver a sustainable impact, spanning the farmer’s economic improvement, crop quality, and the nutrition fulfillment of future generations.

Previously, in 2020, Amartha affiliated with e-Fishery in the early stage through the Kabayan program, which is part of the eFishery mall (eMall) service. Through this initial collaboration, Amartha has managed to channel the capital at US$7.6 million (Rp114 billion). Perceiving the high enthusiasm of the cultivators, by performing further cooperation, this financial technology company aims to disburse financing access up to US$33.5 million (Rp500 billion).

As it is known, Kabayan program has reached about 1,600 fish cultivators that have become a part of eFishery’s ecosystem. Unlike the joint responsibility scheme applied to Amartha partners, through this program eFishery’s fish cultivating partners can apply for capital loans ranging from Rp3 million to Rp100 million, with tenors of up to six months.

The Head of Fund and Operation of e-Fishery, Diajeng Reisa Manik, affirmed that the realization of the the program continues to increase by 250%, attaining Rp228 billion in 2022. By this realization, Reisa claimed that business income of the cultivators also experience an increase.

“We intend to retrieve the grassroots economy by reaching a more massive market segment through collaboration from various stakeholders and sectors. We expect to contribute to the national economic progress by conducting this strategic collaboration,” concluded Adityo.
