Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment conducted a public consultation for its Berdaya Bersama program, which means collectively empowered. The program aims to standardize community business mentorship and training and develop a standardized mentorship model tailored to the needs of local businesses across different regions.
“This effort is part of the Perintis Berdaya Program, a strategic initiative designed to strengthen community economic independence through five key pillars,” explained Muhaimin Iskandar, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, in an official statement.
One of the main objectives of the Perintis Berdaya public consultation is to formulate policies that have a tangible impact on improving community welfare. This process reflects the open governance approach championed by the current Prabowo administration.
Muhaimin stated, “Through collaboration between the government, media, academics, investors, and business actors, we hope to establish a policy framework that can drive job creation and business opportunities in the community enterprise sector.”
In addition, Muhaimin emphasized that strengthening community business mentorship systems is key to building a more equitable and inclusive economy. He explained that the Perintis Berdaya initiative, particularly its Berdaya Bersama pillar, was born from the need for a more coordinated and impactful approach.
“I see the need for a system that unites various empowerment efforts that have so far been fragmented. We need a unified framework that addresses community needs through structured and sustainable approaches. Therefore, I have directly instructed the Deputy for Community Economic Empowerment and Migrant Worker Protection to lead the development of this national model, with full support from all assistant deputies and relevant technical units under the ministry’s coordination,” he said.
He further highlighted, “MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) are the backbone of our economy, contributing significantly to exports and absorbing a large workforce. Thus, we must build an ecosystem that supports their sustainable growth through collaboration, standardized mentorship, expanded financial access, and quality training.”
The Berdaya Bersama mentorship model is designed with incubation and tiered principles. It features a two-level training system (basic to advanced) that is practical, adaptive, and collaborative.
