Heaptalk, Jakarta—To preserve the richness of lontar culture, The Apurva Kempinski Bali, in collaboration with the Samsara Living Museum, held the Sutasoma Book Lontar Exhibition at The Apurva Kempinski Bali, Nusa Dua, Badung, from April 3 to May 31, 2024.
Ida Bagus Agung Gunarthawa from the Samsara Living Museum underlined the pivotal role of the younger generation in preserving our cultural values. This collaboration is a significant step towards introducing and maintaining these values, with a particular focus on the Lontar Sutasoma, to the younger generation of Bali.
“By presenting lontar in this exhibition, we want to introduce the values contained in Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, making them well received and applied by the young generation of Indonesia, notably in Bali,” he explained at the online press conference (04/03).
Artist Ida Bagus Made Gunawan underscored the profound significance of lontar in promoting cultural harmony. Lontar is not solely a cultural heritage, but a guide to creating better humans with a high tolerance level. The exhibition aims to highlight the concept of Tri Hita Karana, which signifies harmony between humans and God, nature, and fellow humans.
Vincent Guironnet, General Manager of The Apurva Kempinski Bali, and Melody Siagian, Director of Marketing Communication, welcomed this initiative. They emphasized that Indonesia has a wealth of precious culture and literature. This exhibition proves love for Indonesia by inviting visitors to read Lontar and explore the short and complete stories.
“Ten Lontar will be on display in the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Lontar Exhibition, which will take place from April 3 to May 31, 2024. We invite all parties to experience the beauty and cultural wisdom stored in the Lontar,” he concluded.
