Heaptalk, Jakarta — President Joko Widodo has assigned Bambang Susantono, the former head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA), as the Presidential Special Envoy for International Cooperation on the Development of IKN (Nusantara Capital), as reported by Antara (06/13). The appointment is detailed in Presidential Decree Number 39/M of 2024, signed on June 11, 2024.
“On June 11, 2024, the President signed Presidential Decree Number 39/M of 2024, appointing Bambang Susantono as the Presidential Special Envoy for International Cooperation on the Development of the Nusantara Capital,” said Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana in a written message quoted by Antara (06/13).
In his new position, Bambang Susantono is responsible for encouraging foreign investment in Nusantara Capital and assisting in the market sounding for its development during bilateral and international economic meetings. He will also carry out other tasks related to international cooperation in Nusantara Capital’s development as assigned by the President.
Previously, President Jokowi had stated that he would assign Bambang Susantono a new assignment as a special envoy for international cooperation to accelerate development in IKN following his resignation as head of the NCA. According to Jokowi, Bambang’s experience in international cooperation can benefit the country. Jokowi said, “We will utilize his international experience to the fullest for the country’s benefit.”
In March 2022, President Jokowi inaugurated Bambang Susantono as the Head of the NCA Authority and Dhony Rahajoe as Deputy Head. Both submitted their resignation letters, which State Secretary Minister Pratikno later announced in June 2024. Jokowi then appointed Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono as Acting Head and Deputy Minister of ATR Raja Juli Antoni as Acting Deputy Head.
