Heaptalk, Jakarta — MRT Jakarta entered a partnership with Japan’s Sojitz Corporation to cater to the design and construction of MRT Jakarta Phase 2A CP205, which consists of railway systems and tracks.

Representatives of both parties, MRT Jakarta’s Construction Director Weni Maulina and Sojitz Corporation’s Assistant General Manager for Airport and Transportation Infrastructure Department Naoki Kazama, signed the cooperation contract at Bundaran HI Station, Central Jakarta (04/17).

MRT Jakarta’s President Director Tuhiyat, who witnessed the signing, expressed his appreciation for the strong commitment between Indonesia and Japan, which paved the way for this significant partnership. The CP205 contract period will last 75 months until the end of 2029.

CP205 is part of the work contract package for constructing MRT Jakarta phase 2A. This contract package includes substation systems, power distribution systems, overhead contact systems, signaling, telecommunications, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), rail (track), and platform screen doors. With a contract value of Rp4.2 trillion, CP205 is expected to support MRT Jakarta operations from Bundaran HI to Kota.

Targeting operations in stages starting in 2027

Witnessing the signing, DKI Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono said, “Thus far, cooperation between Indonesia and Japan has become a backbone in the public transportation sector in Jakarta. The signing of the CP 205 package contract, which includes railway systems and track works, has marked a significant journey in constructing phase 2A of MRT Jakarta. Hopefully, this signing can accelerate the development of phase 2A to improve people’s mobility and quality of life.”

Budi underscored that this collaboration was realized as a result of the initiative taken by the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation and the Japanese Government, which offered JICA and Sojitz Corporation the opportunity to collaborate with MRT Jakarta. Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi and Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Masaki Yasushi also witnessed the signing of the agreement.

As of March 25, 2024, phase 2A construction progress has reached 33.36% with details: CP201 Thamrin-Monas 74.02%, CP202 Harmoni-Mangga Besar 28.34%, and CP203 Glodok-Kota 49.97%. Besides, CP206, covering the procurement of trains, has entered the stage of preparing proposals and clarifying prospective bidders.

Meanwhile, CP207, representing the payment system (automatic fare collection), has entered the tender document preparation stage. MRT Jakarta targets phase 2A operations in stages, namely the HI-Monas Roundabout in 2027 and Harmoni-Kota in 2030.
