Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, declared the National Data Center (PDN) in Surabaya, which Ransomware recently attacked, will return to normal this July.
Based on the coordination meeting, he summarized that PDN services will operate normally by the end of July 2024. The backed-up data from PDN’s servers in Surabaya will be fully transferred to the National Data Center (PDN) in Batam. Hadi also required all ministries and institutions to back up to anticipate a similar case.
“If an interim data center is still disrupted, we remain the backup at the hot site in Batam, which enables us to provide autogate interactive service. Each data center owner also has backups. Each tenant must have data backup; this is mandatory,” he added.
Concurrently, Indonesia’s National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) continuously enhances cybersecurity by connecting its command control in Jakarta and activating the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), which BSSN will monitor.
“The board of the BSSN team will also ensure that command control is easy to manage in case of issues. We also urge users to follow our upcoming circular on using passwords carefully and strictly,” Hadi said in his statement.
Additionally, BSSN’s forensic outcome has given the Ministry a report identifying which users consistently use similar or weak passwords, which leads to these severe issues.
