Heaptalk, Jakarta — Organizing the international-scale fashion event, Jakarta Fashion Week 2023, officially opened on Monday (10/24). Held a week ahead, the opening of JFW has inaugurated directly by Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade, Zulkifli ‘Zulhas’ Hasan, at City Hall Level 5, Pondok Indah Mall 3, South Jakarta.
In his speech during the opening show, Minister Zulhas affirmed the presence of Jakarta Fashion Week in the new place Pondok Indah Mall should invade the global market. Moreover, people’s purchasing power for fashion products, especially modest designs, has increased by 6.1% in the last four years. This result is predicted to continue to grow, aligned with the growth in the number of consumers and population.
“Last week, I sealed the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2023 event with a significant accomplishment by obtaining the transaction of USD19.2 million, or approximately Rp300 billion. I have observed that the Jakarta Fashion Week contains a higher level. Thus, I am extremely optimistic that the implementation of this Jakarta Fashion Week 2023 can exceed the transaction value beyond the previous fashion events,” Zulhas added.
Furthermore, he revealed that the government, particularly the Ministry of Trade, would continue to bolster numerous entrepreneurs in the fashion industry as he realized Indonesia has equivalent resources and outstanding talents. For this reason, Zulhas perceives this momentum as a good opportunity for the fashion industry in Indonesia to expand globally.
As quoted in detik.com, the growth of export activity in fashion products in Indonesia continues to demonstrate exhilarating progress. This creative industry has improved by 34.92% in January – August 2022 compared to the previous year. The archipelago also occupies the 16th position as the global fashion exporter, with a market share of 1.69%.
The presence of Jakarta Fashion Week 2023 is not solely to exhibit the creativity of each fashion designer yet to put forward the business side by embracing an online-to-offline (O2O) concept to facilitate the transactions between buyers and brands through e-commerce partners.
Apart from adopting online transactions, the promoter also provides an offline marketplace, including Fashionlink and Dewi’s Luxe Market, enabling fashion enthusiasts to experience the product directly. By showcasing over 1,600 new collections of 116 brands, JFW 2023 is expected to unlock the door for the fashion industry in stimulating the global market.
