Through the XDR platform, Kaspersky cybersecurity company targets to resolve a ransomware threat, expecting to exceed the former record of 304,904 cases.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — A cybersecurity company, Kaspersky, has unveiled Kaspersky Extended Detection and Response (XDR) platform to mitigate a Ransomware — malware that locks the device or file — threat that targets businesses in Indonesia.
This technology company perceives that Ransomware continues to enhance rapidly. Last year, worldwide cyberspace security companies recorded a significant enhancement of ransomware issues almost twofold or approximately 181% every day, affecting about 9,500 files encrypted per day globally.
In 2020, Kaspersky forewarned a Ransomware 2.0 threat as this attack could deliver a high-risk related to the business reputation. On the other hand, the company also noticed the emergence of targeted ransomware groups, namely Ransomware 3.0. This threat has added different extortion modes, including reselling data or files that have been hacked, carrying out DDOS attacks on victims, and using the same data to carry out phishing attacks.
“One of our new studies has confirmed that three out of five businesses in Southeast Asia have been victims of ransomware attacks. Our 2022 report found that this threat will continue to haunt the region’s companies. Nevertheless, many companies still have fewer resources, making them overwhelmed in detecting this threat. This opportunity is profitable for cybercriminal players,” affirmed Kaspersky’s General Manager in SEA, Yeo Siang Tiong, during the press conference. (02/21)
According to the newest Kaspersky report, the company has managed to embattle around 304,904 ransomware cases around businesses in Southeast Asia, comprising Indonesia as the highest position with 131.779 cases, followed by Thailand (82,438), Vietnam (57,389), Philippines (21,076), Malaysia (11,750), and Singapore (472) ransomware cases.
Aiming to strengthen security for businesses in Indonesia, Kaspersky‘s XDR pledges adaptation ability to the entire institution and is enriched by threat intelligence data to perform outstanding detection ability. By utilizing Kaspersky XDR technology, businesses will encounter multiple functions, including:
- Consolidate many alerts into minor incidents that can be prioritized for manual investigation
- Provide integrated incident response options that provide sufficient context to resolve warnings quickly
- Grant response options beyond infrastructure control points, including network, cloud, and endpoints, to provide comprehensive protection
- Automate repetitive tasks to increase productivity
- Deliver equivalent management and workflow similarly in the overall security components
“Through the Kaspersky XDR establishment, we combine several security tools into our incidents detection platform coherently to assist the company’s security team that needs more power. This platform would also provide multi-layers protection for the companies and deliver threat-hunting capabilities for the existing Security Operations Centers (SOCs),” Yeo said.
