IFW 2022 is officially opened, a watershed moment for the Indonesian fashion industry

Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW), Indonesia’s largest fashion show event, has officially launched at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta and will run from April 13-17, 2022 under a hybrid scheme. The IFW is a celebration of the Indonesian fashion industry’s progress and its potential to help the Indonesian economy.

This 9th edition brought the theme “Tales of the Equator – Treasure of the Magnificent Borneo”. This year’s edition focuses on the Kalimantan region, namely Banjar, Kutai, and Dayak, since there are still many unique items from the Kalimantan region that have not been revealed in the previous edition.

The president of Indonesia Fashion Week, who also serves as the Chairman of the Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs Association (APPMI), Poppy Dharsono stated, “this theme is taken from the theme two years ago, which is Borneo, because IFW 2022 is required to cancel due to the rapidly growing covid pandemic.” I am happy because the excitement for IFW 2022 remains strong, and I believe that the largest fashion show event will serve as a solid starting point for all Indonesian fashion industry practitioners to recover from the depression caused by the country’s economic deterioration over the previous two years.”

The fashion show event will begin with a procession of 40 Indonesian designers. Each designer will present their finest work with a one-of-a-kind and intriguing collection.

Present virtually at the launch, Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, praised the fashion sector, which is beginning to revive.

“The presence of IFW 2022 at a fashion event in the country gives new hope for creative economic players, especially in the fashion sector in this country. Let me congratulate you on the implementation of IFW 2022. Let’s appreciate local Indonesian products.”

The implementation of IFW 2022 is expected to stimulate MSME players in the fashion industry to continue to develop their creativity. Moreover, current technological developments are very helpful for people in doing business.

As a result, Tokopedia, one of Indonesia’s biggest markets, is also supporting IFW implementation by hosting an online bazaar for all tenants engaged. Furthermore, Tokopedia offers the Tokopedia Play platform for those who wish to view the fashion show online.

Furthermore, as another intriguing performance at IFW 2022, BOLDe Indonesia will give a unique fashion show with the subject “X Houseware.” This theme, which will debut at IFW 2022, mixes intriguing themes from fashion, home appliances, and lifestyle.

Fashion fans can also watch this fashion show offline by purchasing tickets on Tokopedia for Rp. 20,000 and an on-site ticket for Rp. 25,000. This event, of course, follows stringent health regulations to ensure the safety of all participants. (SYF)
