Heaptalk, Jakarta — The KLAR startup generated its fantastic milestone by achieving a 40% compounded monthly growth rate for oral treatment products and services from April 2023 to March 2024. Revenue as of May 2024 was also tenfold higher than when the startup received its last funding in May 2022.
As known, KLAR has secured pre-Series A funding of US4.55 million, co-led by AC Ventures and East Ventures. The new injection has been utilized to scale up its business and roll out complementary product offerings.
Founded in 2020 during the pandemic’s peak, KLAR existed by offering tailor-made clear aligners to correct teeth misalignments without the need for conventional metal braces, demonstrating a shorter treatment period overall. Trusted by over 1,000 dentists across 32 cities in Indonesia, KLAR has transformed over 6,500 Indonesian smiles with a patient satisfaction rate of 92%.
Product expansion of KLAR
In 2023, KLAR Smile expanded its product offerings to address teeth discoloration. By launching a range of at-home oral care products focused on providing the healthiest, brighter, and whiter teeth, the startup ensures dentist-approved formulations are tested for efficacy, comfort, and fun compared to traditional products.
KLAR offers a wide range of oral care products, including water flossers, sonic toothbrushes, whitening toothpaste, and KLAR Oral Mouthwash. In Q1 of 2024, the company already marketed over 10,000 units of the Purple Teeth Whitening Booster product on the e-commerce site Shopee. Initially available only through official stores on platforms like Shopee, Tokopedia, TikTok, and Lazada, its innovative products are now available through dentists and retailers, such as Boots and Watsons.
“We have observed significant traction in the oral care sector with innovative products, such as those from our portfolio company KLAR. Their purple teeth whitening booster and whitening masks have garnered considerable popularity. This trend highlights a broader shift as consumers seek to invest in comprehensive beauty products beyond traditional skincare. This reflects a growing appetite for holistic beauty care,” Investment Partner at AC Ventures, Madeline Rantung, said. (08/01)
Besides providing adult health, the startup also broadens oral care for an early age, marking the launch of KLAR Smilecare for Children, spanning kids’ toothpaste, kids’ aligners, and kids’ electric toothpaste. While for an adult, this startup will also bestow other products, including KLAR Remineral and ColorPop Electric Toothbrush.
“KLAR’s relentless focus on delivering gentle solutions and infusing joy into at-home routines has resonated with consumers, driving our growth. This and upcoming product launches reflect our commitment to innovation and our ability to meet the evolving needs of our customers. We are excited to continue driving the smile care industry forward,” Founder and CEO of KLAR, Ellen Pranata, said.
