Heaptalk, Jakarta — Through the Directorate General of Electricity, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Indonesian government secures the provision of electricity infrastructure in Nusantara Capital (IKN), running smoothly according to plan.
Electricity infrastructure plays a vital role in supporting the development of Nusantara Capital. The government has determined that environmentally friendly electricity based on new renewable energy (NRE) is the pioneer of electricity in IKN. “One of the infrastructures at IKN is electricity. Therefore, this is very important. Without electricity, nothing moves there,” said the Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Jisman P Hutajulu, during a working visit to Nusantara Capital (05/01).
According to Jisman, the preparation of electricity infrastructure from upstream to downstream must be detailed so that risk mitigation for problems that arise can be immediately accommodated. He said, “Hopefully, electricity readiness as one of the main supporting infrastructure for the formation of IKN can be immediately finalized following the concept promoted by IKN.”
PLN prepares Nusantara Capital solar power plant
Meanwhile, PLN Distribution Director Adi Priyanto revealed the company’s steps in preparing to commemorate the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2024. “Currently, PLN is preparing the commemoration of Indonesia’s independence on August 17, 2024, and before the commemoration is held, there will be several offices operating in July 2024, and surely, the electricity supply must be set,” said Adi in a written statement.
Previously, the President Director of PLN Nusantara Power, Ruly Firmansyah, stated that his party would provide electricity supply to Nusantara Capital with an innovative, environmentally friendly forest city concept, including a 50 MW solar power plant that would be used to electrify IKN, including during the independence ceremony.
“Nusantara Capital solar power plant (PLTS IKN) can operate on time and can be used to electrify IKN during the Independence Day ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia. The first phase of synchronization, with a capacity of 10 MW, was successfully carried out according to schedule. We will continue synchronizing for the remaining 40 MW and carry out trials until later this solar power plan can commercially provide electricity to IKN,” said Ruly.
The 50 MW Nusantara Capital solar power plant is a pioneer in generating new renewable energy in the Nusantara Capital area. In November 2023, President Joko Widodo laid the first stone of this facility. The plant, which has 21,600 solar panels and can absorb a local workforce of up to 337 workers, was built on an area of 80 hectares.
