Heaptalk, Jakarta – One of the businesses affected by Covid-19 is Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Many employers have tightened expenses, reduced employee salaries, reduced the number of employees, and ended up going out of business. So they need business tips to survive

Most entrepreneurs do this because there are no activities such as production, distribution, and consumption, so that the wheels of the economy came to a halt.

As explained on the MSME talk show (24/9), Sri Nurkyatsiwi head of the Yogyakarta Cooperative and MSME department said that people are reluctant to leave the house and their activities are only limited to inside the house. As soon as the Indonesian government declared Covid-19 was present, some of them immediately stocked the items needed. As a result, for several months, people only focus on their primary needs like foods and medicine, rather than complementary or tertiary.

However, the new normal seems to be making people start leaving the house. Most of them have activities with strict health protocols. Some MSMEs are beginning to be confident about building business again.

However still, doubts and worries floated in their minds. There will be a second wave of Covid-19, especially for those who are just starting a business. Some of them are trying to find out if there are any powerful business tips today.

Entrepreneurs should soon apply some desirable business tips, such as how the business survives with sufficient capital. Then, the company can develop in the new-normal era that leads you into a dense challenge. Therefore, here are the business tips you need to make business stable, at least with the average standard.

Revamp your business model to fit the current market behavior

The business model that has been quite affected is the offline business that operationally it requires direct interaction with the customers. However, people today are reluctant to go outside, even visiting the stalls. So it causes a business slump.

To anticipate this, try to revamp your business online. If it is culinary based, give good product packaging, create a story on your social media or website, and compile all of the footage to attract customers.

Through online business,  it can reduce the interaction with customers in face-to-face terms. Of course, this is good considering the pandemic era; everyone must keep the distance.

Even with the new normal era, this behavior is still valid. Doing business online can be useful business tips for you. Primarily to compete with competitors who also behave in this way.

Consider doing marketing penetration with the website

Some of the offline businesses affected by the crisis are now migrating the marketing activity through the website. They even have to tighten their cost posts to allocate it to the priority of website production. Then shift the entire business model into the online-based like to hire customer service, copywriter, social media person, and designer.

In most advance, the business operator also shifts into more digitized and computerized at the operational process. Some of them are now getting acquainted with the Content Management System (CMS) provided by WordPress, Magento, Shopify, or self-build from the software house. There are also business operators who have already implemented Customer Relationship Management (CRM) inside their website, analytics metrics, shopping cart, and online payment.

Optimized the digitalization aspect through social media

Fortunately, today pandemic is coming all together with the era when most people has already a technology savvy. They tend to require much information, doing remote activities like shopping, learning, and socializing with their relatives.

One of the strategies to consider is through Social Media, like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, Linkedin, and others that provide the business panel for entrepreneurs user – equipped with smart analytics, easy to use user interface and user experience, and promotion/ads feature.

So that you can market quickly, monitor the sales and transaction volume, and maximize your business strategy efficiently. Also, the chosen customer can be right to maintain the trust between you and the customer.

Transform the whole business operation with ERP

The other reason for the business to survive is ‘being adaptive’, said Phidi Soepangkat, CEO of DesktopIP Teknologi Indonesia Corporation. Due to the pandemic, it becomes usual that people are now limiting their movement, including attending the office and doing daily activities. Thus, to maintain good collaboration between people to people and department to department, the use of ERP is beneficial.

ERP presents to deliver the process traction. The single-integrated software can manage day-to-day business activities such as accounting, procurement, project management, risk management and compliance, and supply chain operations. At the advanced level, it can include the organization’s performance management, that the software can helps plan, predict, budgeting, reporting. Moreover, it can streamline the activities that ERP systems can eliminate data duplication and provide data integrity with a single truth source.

Some MSME found that it is costly. However, the right tips are that they prioritize what process needs to streamline, then find the local service like DesktopIP who owned the virtualization environment and cloud service.
