In addition, the agenda also was attended by the Head of the District Attorney for East Kutai, Henryadi, the Deputy Chief of the Resort Police of East Kutai, Damus Asa, General Administration Assistant Jamiatulkhair Daik, and other government apparatus.

“I would like to deliver my gratitude as the commemoration of the birth of Pancasila at Lubang Buaya, that fall every October 1st, still becomes the routine agenda, although, in several areas, such as East Kutai, we only can attend the occasion online. The measure was applied considering the covid-19 pandemic situation,” Sulaiman said in a statement (01/10).

Moreover, Sulaiman delivered, “I hope we will have a strong spirit to implementing our ideology, Pancasila”. Sulaiman added that this moment would bring a positive vibe as it enables people to reminisce about Indonesia’s history.

In the archipelago’s history, Pancasila was introduced during a speech by Indonesia’s founding father and first president, Soekarno, on June 1st, 1945, prior to Indonesia gaining independence. Pancasila means five principles that are inseparable and interrelated, spanning a divinity that is an ultimate unity, just and civilized humanity, the national unity of Indonesia, democracy predicated on the inherent wisdom of unanimity arising from deliberation among popular representatives, and social justice for all Indonesian people.

From his point of view, Sulaiman affirmed that Pancasila is the country’s ideology that must be recognized and preserved by all citizens from generation to generation.

“We must preserve our ideology, Pancasila. As the state ideology, Pancasila is a foundation that unites our nation,” said Sulaiman in his closing statement.
