Heaptalk, Jakarta – Deakin University Lancaster University Indonesia (DLI) is opening wider opportunities for young Indonesians to access world-class higher education through the launch of its scholarship program for the September 2025 intake. This initiative is expected to help address financial barriers that continue to prevent many students from pursuing higher education.
According to data from the Ministry of Higher Education for Science and Technology, more than 350,000 students dropped out of university in 2023, the majority from private institutions. This figure follows a similar trend in 2020, when around 600,000 students discontinued their studies. The high dropout rate underscores the urgent need for a more inclusive and affordable higher education system.
DLI, a collaboration between Deakin University (Australia) and Lancaster University (UK), is taking tangible steps to provide a range of scholarships for prospective students, both domestic and international. The scholarships reflect the institution’s commitment to creating equitable access to education and supporting Indonesia’s vision of a Golden Generation by 2045.
Diverse Scholarship Schemes
DLI Rector Professor Greg Barton emphasized that education should be a right, not a privilege. “Education should be a right, not a privilege. We want to ensure that everyone, regardless of background, has the same opportunity to learn and grow,” he stated.
DLI offers several scholarship options, including:

Rector Scholarship, a full scholarship for Indonesian students enrolling in the dual-degree undergraduate program. Applicants must have a final-year high school GPA of at least 90 and be active in extracurricular or community activities. Selection includes a direct interview with the Rector.

Excellence Scholarship, up to 60% tuition discount automatically awarded to applicants with a minimum final high school GPA of 90, with no separate application required.

DLI Perdana Scholarship, offering up to 50% tuition discount for Indonesian students entering the undergraduate or foundation program, based on previous academic performance.

International Student Scholarship, a 20% tuition discount for non-Indonesian students who meet specific academic criteria.

Early Acceptance Bursary, an additional 12% discount for applicants who confirm their offer before 31 May 2025.
These scholarships are available for Business and IT programs offered under DLI’s dual-degree curriculum.
Direct Engagement Through Info Sessions
To improve access to information, DLI will hold a series of Application Days and Info Sessions in major cities such as Jakarta and Bandung, along with an Open House at its Bandung campus throughout May and June 2025. These events aim to provide prospective students and their families with direct insights into the university’s programs, application process, and scholarship opportunities.
