Heaptalk, Jakarta — Har Har Chicken!, the takeaway kiosk specializing in har cheong gai-focused menu items, has obtained fresh injection for an undisclosed amount led by East Ventures.
This funding follows the startup’s debut at Bishan, Junction 8, on July 5th, 2024. This investment will primarily be allocated to supply chain optimization to ensure consistent customer quality.
“The guidance and support from the East Ventures team were invaluable as we embarked on this entrepreneurial journey. We appreciate the shared conviction in the Har Har Chicken! brand, and look forward to a long and successful partnership,” Chief Executive Officer of Har Har Chicken!, Bevin Desker.
The world’s fastest-growing poultry markets are South Asia and Southeast Asia, with a combined total growth forecast of 30% between 2023 and 2030, representing a 4% to 5% annual growth. Furthermore, the fried chicken market in Southeast Asia, including Singapore, experienced substantial enhancement due to growing demand for convenient food preferences.
Building on the region’s shared love for fried chicken and familiarity with har cheong gai, or fermented prawn paste chicken, this food and beverage startup provides several har cheong gai-focused items, including standalone wings, burgers, rice boxes, and more. Each comes with sides to provide the most significant har cheong gai satisfaction.
This startup was founded by Bevin Desker (Chief Executive Officer), Han Liguang (Chief Product Officer), the owner of One Michelin-starred Labyrinth, Lennard Yeong (Chief Marketing Officer), a food social media influencer, and Tay Tianli (Chief Operating Officer), who has years of restaurant experience. The team’s mission is to build accessible Singaporean food brands with the potential for regional scalability.
This startup plans to expand its initial presence in Singapore, aiming for three outlets: Junction 8, Vivocity, and ION Orchard. The long-term goal is to increase the number of outlets across Singapore in 2025 and expand regionally soon.
“We are excited to support Har Har Chicken! which aims to bring an innovative twist to a beloved Singaporean dish. This startup is powered by a strong founding team that brings unique prior experiences that we think will combine to create great synergy in the food and beverage space. We look forward to their growth and success,” Principal at East Ventures, Wesley Tay, affirmed.
