Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) has received reports that one of the prospective Physical Crypto Asset Traders (CPFAK), PT Indodax Nasional Indonesia (Indodax), is suspected to have experienced a hack on its crypto asset transaction system.
“Bappebti is coordinating with Indodax. We have also summoned representatives from Indodax to request clarification regarding the incident. Currently, Indodax is in the process of investigating the system that is suspected to have been hacked,” explained Kasan, Head of Bappebti, during a working meeting with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) today, Wednesday (09/11).
Indodax is currently conducting a comprehensive system shutdown to ensure that all systems are operating properly. “Therefore, Bappebti urges the public, especially Indodax customers, to remain calm and not panic,” he added.
Meanwhile, Oscar Darmawan, CEO of Indodax, confirmed that the company is indeed suspected to have been hacked. “Our transaction system is indeed suspected to have been compromised. As a result, we are conducting a thorough investigation and maintenance of the existing system. During this process, the Indodax web platform and application will be inaccessible. However, there is no need to worry, as we ensure that customer balances will be safe, both in crypto and in rupiah,” Oscar explained.
Currently, Indodax is carrying out a more in-depth investigation but emphasizes that customer funds remain secure. Additionally, the company is still investigating any potential losses. However, Oscar stated that further information will be provided once the investigation is complete.
