Heaptalk, Jakarta — Batas, Indonesia’s ed-tech startup focusing on early childhood learning, obtained strategic investment for an undisclosed amount from Achmad Zaky, the ex-founder of Bukalapak, through the Achmad Zaky Foundation (AZF).
This startup also received support from diverse individual investors, including Bembi Juniar, the Founder of Alami; Ratna Monika, the Founder of Rolling Stone Indonesia; Adi Panuntun, the Founder of Matahari Sembilan; and Febrinda Wulandari, an Indonesian woman entrepreneur.
The investment allows Batas’s team to expand its education services through after-school and preschool programs. The fresh injection will also be utilized to advance its academic fields, such as technology, art, science, and sports, while remaining within the values of the Qur’an.
According to the Achmad Zaky Foundation’s (AZF) Founder, Achmad Zaky, early childhood education is critical as the primary foundation for lifelong learning because children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development are optimal if they continue to be sharpened during the golden age, around 0-6 years.
“Our investment in Batas is one of our portfolios to provide a holistic education platform for children and parents. We aim to create a complete, holistic, and enjoyable support ecosystem for them,” He added.
Established in 2021, Batas was initially known as a platform for learning the Koran and Islam through the Fun Learning method. In order to improve the quality of early childhood learning, the company will introduce several new programs, which are expected to be completed in the third quarter by the end of 2024. Meanwhile, program expansions will be introduced, including:
- Batas Learn & Play is an after-school program that focuses on developing children’s interests and talents. Classes include archery, swimming, art, science, mathematics, Arabic language classes, tahfidz classes, and reciting the Quran.
- BatasSpace: an ecosystem that provides an immersive experience for all family members to learn about Islam and the Quran.
- Happy Hope Pre-School: adopts the Purposeful Learning environment concept, and the program integrates an Islamic-based approach creatively.
“We are committed to improving the educational landscape by combining technology and inclusive Islamic teachings. With support from AZF, we will have an impact on Indonesian children,” Founder and CEO of Batas, Issyarah Feah, conveyed.
