Heaptalk, Jakarta — Australia’s government announced it is re-opening its borders to fully vaccinated visa holders, tourists, business travelers, and other worldwide visitors. The opening of Australia’s borders is expected to revive this country’s economy from the tourism industry.
The announcement is part of Australia’s planned re-opening of international travel based on quarantine-free travel arrangements, allowing people from Singapore, Japan, and South Korea to start traveling again in 2021. People from Singapore were eligible on November 21, 2021, while people from Japan and South Korea were on December 15, 2021.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Indonesia is Australia’s eleventh largest source of international visitation. Indonesia’s visitors who visited Australia reached 222,000, making up 2% of the 11,7 million Indonesians who traveled internationally in 2019.
Also, the number of visitors from Indonesia who traveled to two or more cities or regions in Australia reached 38% in 2019. New South Wales was the most visited state, followed by Victoria, Western Australia, and Queensland. They spend an average of 19 nights holidaying in Australia, of which 41% are spent in the regions.

International travelers must have a valid Australian visa to enter this country. Starting February 21st, 2022, visa holders who are fully vaccinated with two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) can travel to Australia quarantine-free without the need to apply for a travel exemption. To enter Australia, visa holders who haven’t been fully vaccinated will still need a valid travel exemption. They will also have to follow state and territory quarantine rules.
