Heaptalk, Jakarta — The rapid technology enhancement is estimated to continue growing in 2024. According to the infrastructure and IT service company NTT Ltd, several combinations of emerging and mainstream technology trends will increasingly expand across networks, Private 5G, data centers, and the cloud in 2024. Here are the technology trends that will increase next year:

  1. Dark NOC will enter the vocabulary of the networking space. With the advancement of AI for IT operations (AIOps), the idea of a Network Operations Center that is completely automated without human intervention is an ideal expectation. Network companies will further embed this technology into their operations to improve network quality, support technicians, and modernize infrastructure over the next 12 months.
  2. Artificial Intelligence will encourage investment in innovative energy sources through data center infrastructure. A typical data center rack consumes around 6 to 8 kilowatts of electricity. AI accelerates that increase in density with capacities from 50 to 100 kilowatts. These server racks will generate more heat and require more cooling, posing a challenge for companies with net-zero targets. The company is predicted to work with electrical energy resource providers to explore sustainable options next year.
  3. The IoT ecosystem will increase P5G and Edge adoption. Combining IoT, Private 5G, and edge computing will enable companies to gain real-time insights and create better policies. As companies accelerate digitalization efforts, fast connectivity to technological devices is essential to digitize the physical environment. This advantage will become increasingly important because companies need data to fulfill analytical platforms supported by AI/ML (artificial intelligence/machine learning). Increasing automation due to labor shortages, computer vision, and digital twins will be critical use cases driving the need for powerful edge capabilities.
  4. Invisible clouds will start to move vertically or deeper. Most of the benefits of the cloud have been felt in offices, project management tools, CRM solutions, and the like. Unfortunately, the use of the cloud has not been fully mastered by specific industries. In 2024, vertical cloud, PaaS, and IaaS layer software packages will be more widely used to orient industrial needs, focusing on business targets. Analysts have been predicting this for quite some time, and now many are interested in these projects.
  5. Optical cable networks will become increasingly utilized. The increasing focus on efficiency, sustainability, and future readiness will increase the use of optical networks in 2024.

“AI adoption is growing exponentially. With artificial general intelligence (AGI) and the technological singularity still far in the future, humans will be an important part of this technological journey. Every company must look ahead to ensure they can leverage new technology trends in the future to achieve sustainability targets.” The Group EVP, New Ventures and Innovation of NTT Ltd, Shahid Ahmed, said.
