Tickets sold 29%, KAI still offers 2.5m available seats for Christmas and New Year

Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), a state-owned enterprise that provides rail transportation services, has recorded that the number of train tickets sold for the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2024/2025 holiday period has reached 1,030,313 tickets, or 29% of the total seating capacity of 3,572,588. This data was obtained as of Friday, December 13, at 07:00 western Indonesia time.

In more detail, the sold tickets consist of medium/long-distance train tickets amounting to 1,030,313 (36.39%) of the total capacity of 2,770,864 and local train tickets reaching 21,929 (2.74%) of the total capacity of 801,724. Medium/long-distance train tickets can be booked 45 days before departure, while local train tickets can be booked seven days before departure.

“From December 19, 2024, to January 5, 2025, the KAI Group provides a total of 44,754,280 seats consisting of 3,572,588 KAI passengers; 35,407,300 KAI Commuter passengers; 4,142,520 Jabodebek LRT passengers; 588,304 South Sumatra LRT passengers; 7,416 KAI Wisata passengers; 487,728 Airport Train passengers; 29,160 Makassar-Parepare Train passengers; and 519,264 KCIC passengers,” said Anne Purba, Vice President of Public Relations at KAI.

She added that the total number of Group journeys is 40,782 trains, including 7,328 KAI-managed journeys; 23,204 KAI Commuter-managed journeys; 1,872 Airport Train-managed journeys; 5,598 Jabodebek LRT journeys; 1,772 South Sumatra LRT journeys; 36 KAI Wisata-managed journeys; 108 Makassar-Parepare Train journeys; and 864 KCIC-managed Whoosh journeys.

“The number of ticket sales will continue to change dynamically and increase, as sales are still ongoing. KAI hopes the public will immediately book tickets and plan their holidays well, as there are still plenty of train tickets available for the Nataru period,” Anne concluded.
