Heaptalk, Jakarta – As the biggest craft expo in ASEAN, the 24th Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair (Inacraft) 2024 is expected to support Indonesia to become a major player in exporting handicraft products in ASEAN. This statement was conveyed by the Minister of Cooperation and Small Medium Enterprises Teten Masduki On Wednesday when opening the 2024 Inacraft at JCC.
“Not only becoming the handicraft product major player in ASEAN region, but Indonesia also succeed to enter the list the 10 largest handicraft exporting countries in the world,” said Teten Masduki.
The Minister Teten also appreciated the Association of Indonesian Handicraft Exporters and Entrepreneurs (Asephi) as the initiator of Inacraft for consistently improving Inacraft’s branding in ASEAN.
“Currently, Indonesia has market share for 1,25% in the craft industry in the world. Indonesia’s market share is expected to enhance due to the Natural Resources (SDA) and craftsman skills in altering things to a remarkable decorative and craft products,” said Teten.
This year’s Inacraft, Teten also underscored the innovation development of fabricated eri silk yarn, the sole Indonesian-made fabric, comprising 70% Tencel fiber and 30% Eri silk fiber.
He also added, the implementation of Inacraft 2024 has adapted with the digital era through the digital concept implementation called SMART (Simple, Mobile, Accessible, Real-Time, Trustworthy) with the use of cashless payment, social media oriented, and digital insight program.
In the same opportunity, General Chairperson of the Central Management Board (BPP) Asephi Muchsin Ridjan declared that there are 1.500 MSMEs participated on this event. From the total of 800 Asephi members, around 656 members are under the MSMEs category, while the rest are MSMEs guided by Ministries/Institutions (K/L) and 10 international participants.
“With the heated politic situation in Indonesia, we are optimist Inacraft’s visitor to reach 100,000 thousand people with retail transactions around USD6,3 million (USD1 equals to Rp15,711),” he concluded.
