Heaptalk, Jakarta — Streetwear is no longer just a trend, but part of the lifestyle of young people worldwide, including Indonesia. As cited in GoodStats data, around 13.9% of the young generation choose streetwear as their favorite style. Moreover, around 58,2% of young people consider fashion as an important part of their lives, while 40,4% consider it to be something very influential.

Streetwear style comes from street culture, such as skateboarding and hip-hop, which then evolved into a fashion movement that has a deeper meaning. In Indonesia, more young people are choosing streetwear because of its unique design and ability to reflect character and personal identity. This phenomenon also encourages many local brands to innovate to present unique and authentic collections.

One of the brands that attracts attention is NGAB.LTD. Coming from Banjar, the brand carries streetwear concept with a touch of local culture. Iqbal Pratama, the founder of NGAB.LTD, revealed, “We not only sell clothes, but also stories and community spirit. NGAB.LTD is here for those who want to look cool with a strong local identity.”

In addition, Ardi Wiranata, a fashion observer, assessed that the presence of local brands is increasingly taken into account because they bring a unique identity that cannot be found in outside brands. “Streetwear is not just clothing, but a way to express identity. Local brands fill this gap very well, especially with an approach that is close to the community,” said Ardi.

The local streetwear trend is further strengthened by the concept of limited edition, where each collection is produced in limited quantities to maintain its exclusivity. This provides added value for young people who desire something unique and not common. By the significant growth of local brands, streetwear is now more than just a trend—it is a form of self-expression and cultural expression that is increasingly gaining a place in the hearts of the young generation of Indonesia.
