Heaptalk, Jakarta — Tempo Scan Pacific has now produced a new line of milk products to support food self-sufficiency, particularly in meeting the nutritional needs of Indonesian children. Its two subsidiaries, PT Kian Mulia Manunggal and PT Polari Limunusainti, will produce infant and children’s milk products, including infant formula and follow-on (IFFO) and growing-up milk (GUM) in powder and UHT liquid forms under the Vidoran Xmart brand.
Since the end of 2022, PT Kian Mulia Manunggal has operated a facility for producing intermediary milk raw materials to reduce dependence on milk raw material imports. This effort demonstrates the company’s contribution to increasing the independence of the domestic industry. Additionally, this step is expected to boost the growth of domestic products and the use of local components.
Handojo S. Muljadi, President Commissioner, and Founder of Tempo Scan Group, stated, “This milk processing production facility is a tangible manifestation of the core values of Tempo Scan Group, which is responsible for producing high-quality nutritional products to support the nutritional fulfillment and health of Indonesian children so that they grow up healthy, ready to be strong, and intelligent to face the Golden Generation.”
Improving the industry’s capabilities
Prof. Taruna Ikrar, Head of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), visited the milk production facility of PT Kian Mulia Manunggal in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java. Taruna stated that milk self-sufficiency can be achieved by holistically improving the industry’s upstream and downstream capabilities. Upstream, the increase in fresh milk production should be accompanied by a growing population of dairy cows in Indonesia.
“Meanwhile, in the intermediary and downstream sectors, the readiness of the milk processing industry also needs to be supported to be more prepared to process the increased fresh milk production into products that meet the nutritional needs of Indonesian children and consumers and provide high-added value to the Indonesian economy, achieving food self-sufficiency as targeted by the Government,” Taruna explained.
During the visit, Taruna ensured that the Vidoran Xmart milk production process met standards to maintain nutritional and dietary quality, from receiving milk raw materials and other ingredients to the final processing stages. “Therefore, the efforts undertaken by domestic companies like Tempo Scan in building the milk processing industry should be supported and serve as an example for other entrepreneurs in contributing to food self-sufficiency efforts,” he concluded.
