Heaptalk, Jakarta — Volta, an EV brand of MCash Group, established a strategic collaboration with global energy group Petronas to produce 900,000 e-motorcycles. Petronas also involves its affiliates, Gentari and Twin Tower Ventures, in this collaboration.
These e-motorcycles will be geared up with Petronas’ graphene technology ProCharge+ batteries and will be on Indonesian roads within the next five years. The technology extends battery life and enhances thermal management to deliver superior performance and affordability. The superior performance and cost-effectiveness of ProCharge+ address critical concerns for budget-conscious Indonesian consumers, setting Volta apart in the race to dominate the market.
The country’s EV market is expected to be fiercely competitive. However, Volta’s unique selling proposition, coupled with Petronas’ advanced battery technology, will deliver a distinct edge. Volta’s battery-swapping model eliminates charging hassles, a critical factor in driving EV adoption in developing markets.
Contributing to the growth of EV infrastructure
“By integrating these cutting-edge ProCharge+ batteries, we can deliver innovative solutions to our customers with the perfect balance of advancement and affordability. We eagerly anticipate the continued success of our partnership with Petronas, contributing to the widespread growth of advanced EV infrastructure across all of Indonesia,” stated Suryandy Jahja, Managing Director of MCash.
Dr. Mahpuzah Abai, Head of Technology Digital Business at Petronas, added, “The growing EV landscape demands dynamic partnerships between stakeholders to build a seamless and sustainable mobility ecosystem. Our collaboration with Volta exemplifies this commitment, combining Petronas’ expertise in advanced materials with Volta’s innovative battery-swapping-as-a-service model to accelerate EV adoption in Indonesia.”
“Aligned with Petronas’ aspiration to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050, we strive to be a pivotal part of the solution by offering products that seamlessly integrate into people’s lives, enabling them to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle,” Mahpuzah concluded.
