Heaptalk, Jakarta – Creative Economy and Tourism Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno admits apart from the packed schedule, a complicated licensing process became one of the reasons numerous international artist such as Taylor Swift being reluctant coming to Indonesia.

On Friday (23/02), during his written press release, Sandiaga Uno declared, “The complicated licensing process contributes to the expensive concert organizing. Thus, the concert tickets become costly. This makes Indonesia as a competitive market compared to other Southeast countries.”

In order to rid of the multi-faceted process, Kemenparekraf will initiate a digitization concert licensing. From that digitalization, promotors will not have to experience difficulties and an affordable price while dealing with the process.

“According to the government’s direction, we are starting the digitization concert licensing. We hope this will make the event licensing process, especially music easier, cheaper, and simpler,” said Sandi.

Furthermore, Sandiaga added that Kemenparekraf is currently adding the international scale music event licensing service KBLI 90030 about the Activities for Arts and Arts Festivals. He said, “Hence, international promotors can use KBLI as we will digitally migrated and and we hope that OSS will migrate to version 2.0.”

Minister Sandiaga also mentioned the progress in music royalty payment design. He continued that the royalty payment mechanism in events is managed together by the National Collective Management Institute and the All Indonesian Composers Association (AKSI). “Later on, all payment will be available via OSS,” said Sandiaga.

Moreover, Baparekraf is arranging a plan about the royalty payment mechanism. Additionally, Baparekraf is also on the last step of reviewing the digital licensing starting with setting standards based on current developments.

“After that, industry or association will form a Professional Certification Institute (LSP) to execute certification based on the joint prepared standards. The standard prepared by Kemenparekraf can be temporarily used as the guidance in preparing human resource as promotors along with LSP preparation for certification,” concluded Sandiaga.
