Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Russian Export Center (REC) held its first business mission in Jakarta at the Raffles Jakarta Hotel on April 14-15, 2025. This mission brought together over 30 Russian companies, including producers of digital services, food products, specialized equipment, and other industries.
This business mission is expected to help strengthen business ties between the two sides and improve the efficiency of export contract negotiations. In advance, REC aims to boost bilateral trade and enhance the presence of Russian goods in the Indonesian market. Veronika Nikishina, General Director of the Russian Export Center, admitted that Indonesia is one of the most promising destinations for Russian exports. As the largest economy in Southeast Asia and a new BRICS member, its global influence continues to grow.
“Now is the perfect time for Russian businesses to enter the Indonesian market, leveraging all available tools and opportunities. In Jakarta, with REC’s support, companies will present a wide range of products and solutions—from food to IT technologies,” said Veronika Nikishina, General Director of the Russian Export Center.
Unlocking Russian companies’ export potential
During the business mission, Indonesian entrepreneurs have the opportunity to meet with REC’s representative in Indonesia, Vadim Varaksin, to establish business connections and engage with representatives of Russian companies. Vadim conveyed that REC’s business mission to Indonesia is a crucial step in unlocking Russian companies’ export potential.
He explained, “Abundant resources and close economic ties create favorable conditions for business collaboration between Russia and Indonesia. It is important to actively explore new areas of cooperation, leverage the strengths of both sides, jointly ensure stability and continuity in production processes, and strengthen partnerships across various industries—all of which will contribute to mutual growth and regional development.”
Additionally, on April 15, the Russian delegation also visited the showroom of Modena, one of Indonesia’s largest corporations, to discuss potential cooperation and present Russian products to Indonesian partners. The event featured a presentation of the Made in Russia national brand for major Indonesian businesses and leading media.
The business mission coincides with the 13th Meeting of the Russia-Indonesia Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation. Notably, 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Indonesia. On April 14, the Russia-Indonesia Business Forum was also held as part of the intergovernmental commission. The Roscongress Foundation organizes it in collaboration with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
