Chief Customer and Marketing Officer of Prudential Indonesia Karin Zulkarnaen conveyed that the total claims disbursed in 2022 attained Rp 16,6 billion (around USD 1,12 billion).

Heaptalk, Jakarta – PT Prudential Life Assurance, known as Prudential Indonesia, posted Rp 22 trillion or about US$1.5 billion (USD1 equals Rp 14,714) annual profit in 2022. This number is obtained from the total premium income and the consolidation contribution of PT Prudential Sharia Life Assurance (Prudential Sharia).

“The total net profit reached Rp 22 trillion, and this achievement is contributed by the premium of new business, renewal contribution, single premium, and tabarru’ fund,” stated the President Director of Prudential Sharia Omar Sjawaldy Anwar during Prudential Indonesia press conference on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Chief Customer and Marketing Officer of Prudential Indonesia Karin Zulkarnaen conveyed that the total claims disbursed in 2022 attained Rp 16,6 billion (around USD 1,12 billion), and this number is much larger than in 2021. “Throughout 2022, the total claims reached Rp 16.6 billion consisting of health insurance claims and critical illness insurance claims which enhanced 47% and 16% respectively, while the death claim slumped by 77%,” said Karin.

The increase in these claims was impacted by several factors, one of which is the ease of the covid-19 restriction, which drives people to be not afraid anymore to go to hospital. Perceiving claim value, the insurance claim also increased by 39% which was impacted by the hike in the price of health services, including hospitals, medicine prices, and doctor fees.

Furthermore, the company’s risk-based capital (RBC) also soars by 520%. This number rose significantly compared to the minimum threshold of 120%. In terms of its business segmentation, Karin stated that to date, most of the clients derive from family segmentation, but the company will expand to millennials and Gen-Z.

Apart from Prudential Indonesia, Prudential Sharia, who was a spin-off from Prudential Indonesia last year, also recorded significant growth. Since its establishment in April to December 2022, this insurance company has recorded a gross premium income of Rp 2,3 trillion  (USD 156 million) and has managed tabarru’ fund of Rp 403 billion (USD 29 million). The total asset of this company attains Rp6.7 trillion (USD 455 million), with the total claim of Rp 1.7 trillion. Based on its RBC, the company’s financial condition also is excellent, with a total RBC of 2,809%.
