Heaptalk, Jakarta – Secretary of the National Border Management Agency, Prof. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, paid a work visit in Sota Cross-Border Post (PLBN), Sota District, Merauke Regency, South Papua Province (12/27). This one-day agenda lasted was aimed to directly monitor the development of the crossing of people, goods and animals in the RI – PNG (Papua New Guinea) border area.
Zuldan thought the main principle of the cross-border post is to serve the best crossing service. The objective of this is for locals, both from Indonesia or Papua New Guinea (PNG) can legally cross the area. This includes the crossing of people, goods, or pets.
“This principle needs to be held firm so the service can be more flexible. For instance, despite the service being closed at 4PM and then there is a sudden emergency such as someone getting sick or dying, both from Indonesia or PNG, the service must still be provided,” Zudan explained.
Highlighting the importance of this principle, Professor Zudan gave an acknowledgement to the PLBN Sota for the service efforts that have been done. He hoped that said effort can always be optimized. The work visit was also the form of keeping a good relationship and a motivation for all employees at PLBN Sota.
The majority of services at PLBN Sota have acquired the applicable regulations and procedures. However, there is still an aspect that needs to be improvised, such as discretionary space. This space allows for special handling under certain situations, for example a person crossing [the border] at 7PM carrying an ill person or locals that have finished hunting.
“We need to ensure that this service is aligned with the regulations and give the best service there is for the Republic of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea,” he stressed.
The importance of people crossing, mainly for border crossers between two countries, has become the main focus. PLBN Sota needs to ensure that the service given is optimal as well as the health conditions of the people passing through. In fact, in certain situations, discretion is given to the Head of PLBN to provide the best service.
When talking about the PLBN Sota performance, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh appreciates the performance that has been carried out, especially under the leadership of Ni Luh Puspa.
Although the majority has done exactly as it is hoped to, there is still the need for continuity effort to improve the service. The arrival of Zudan Arif Fakrulloh is hoped to give additional support for the employees of the PLBN Sota to always provide the best service for the citizens crossing through the border of Republic Indonesia – Papua New Guinea.
