In addition to LPG, fuel, gasoline, and biodiesel, Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal is constructed to accommodate LNG, CPO, used cooking oil (UCO), and petrochemicals.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Pertamina through its subsidiary PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) announced a collaboration with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) to develop the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal (JIGT) located in Kalibaru, North Jakarta.
Occupying an area of 64 hectares, JIGT is projected to have a storage capacity of up to 6.3 million barrels. The terminal will be built in an area developed by Pelindo in Kalibaru which is free of residents, borders the sea, and has offshore berths that can accommodate large ships. Kalibaru is considered a strategic location for JIGT since it can be the gateway to the energy trading ecosystem through the Singapore-Indonesia corridor. Trade in this corridor accounts for 30-35% of global trade flows for oil and LNG.
The signing of the collaboration was carried out by PT Pertamina International Shipping CEO Yoki Firnandi and Pelindo Strategy Director Prasetyo at the BriLian Building, Jakarta (09/01). Deputy Minister I of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo also attended the activity to witness the signing of the partnership agreement.
Kartika appreciated the synergy of the two SOEs. According to him, the construction of JIGT is going to be a strategic infrastructure for the development of renewable energy in the future. He said, “JIGT will accommodate multi-green products that are managed in a green way and are expected to become the flagship of Pertamina and Pelindo.”
Complementing the Plumpang Integrated Terminal
In line with Kartika, President Director of Pertamina Nicke Widyawati explained that JIGT is going to be developed to be more modern, environmentally friendly, and the most sophisticated in Indonesia. This terminal will complement the Plumpang Integrated Terminal which is currently the backbone of the fuel oil infrastructure in western Java.
“The Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal in Kalibaru is designed according to the energy transition trend and the development of Pertamina’s future green energy business, apart from being an energy terminal with the best operational standards,” said Nicke. Besides LPG, fuel, gasoline, and biodiesel, JIGT is constructed to accommodate LNG, CPO, used cooking oil (UCO), and petrochemicals.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping Yoki Firnandi said that PIS will build and manage JIGT as an integrated maritime logistics subholding. Thus far, his party has focused on managing strategic energy terminals.
Yoki conveyed, “In its development, JIGT will implement ESG and emission-free aspects. “JIGT will later be operated by implementing a digital system to make it safer, more reliable, and efficient.”
