Heaptalk, Jakarta — On Monday (02/18), Mercure Jakarta Batavia held a media gathering for Iftar Ramadan 2025. The event aimed to introduce various iftar dining packages and accommodation offers, promotions for guests, communities, media, and business partners, and to taste unique dishes to break the fast.

“As a hotel with the tagline ‘Discover Local,’ Mercure Batavia presents a special iftar experience by highlighting traditional dishes from Kota Tua that are rarely found, namely Pekojan Porridge and Kebuli Rice,” said Paulus Karim, General Manager of Mercure Batavia.

The Bubur Pekojan served at Mercure Jakarta Batavia differs from typical porridge, using young goat meat and broth with raisin toppings. This dish is not only a fast-breaking meal but also a part of Islam’s history in Indonesia. It was first introduced by Jamaah Hadramaut, a scholar who came to the archipelago to continue Wali Songo’s mission of spreading Islam.

At Mercure Jakarta Batavia, the Pekojan Porridge recipe is made based on a heritage passed down through generations, directly learned by Executive Chef Mercure Batavia, Chef Tessa, from Habib Achmad Alwi Assegaf—the 6th generation descendant of Jamaah Hadramaut and Imam Langgar Tinggi Pekojan. With his guidance, Chef Tessa ensures that the authentic taste of this porridge is maintained, delivering a delicious dish rich in historical and cultural values.

Paulus Karim added, “As Mercure’s tagline is ‘Discover Local,’ we want guests to experience historical food while breaking their fast at the Kota Tua Jakarta destination. This authentic Bubur Pekojan and our delicious Nasi Kebuli will accompany you again during iftar.”

Meanwhile, Jane Clements, Marcomm Manager of Mercure Jakarta Batavia, presented various special Iftar & Sahoor Stay promotions. “To provide a more memorable Ramadan experience, Mercure Jakarta Batavia offers special deals, including Iftar Buffet at Rp350,000 nett/pax. Promotions in the 1st & 4th weeks: Buy 1 Get 2. Promotions in the 2nd & 3rd weeks: Buy 4 Get 5. Chance to win a Grand Prize Umrah Package for two people and earn 2X reward points, 5% discount for Accor Live Limitless (ALL) members, and 10% discount for Accor Plus members,” Jane said.

Jane explained that the family special iftar buffet package at Rp400,000 per family applies to a family of 2 adults and 2 children with a maximum age limit of 11 years. She added, “For those who choose the Family Special Iftar Buffet Package, you can win a Grand Prize Umrah Package for 2 people, earn 2X reward points, 5% discount for ALL members, and 10% discount for Accor Plus members.”

For the Sahoor & Stay package at Rp900,000 nett/room/night, guests will get a 1-night stay in a classic room with an area of 23 sqm, sahoor for 2 people, wake-up call service for sahoor, and a 5% discount for ALL members and a 10% discount for Accor Plus members.
