Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Industry has issued domestic component level (TKDN) certificates for several Apple products. According to the Ministry of Industry’s P3DN website, five iPhone 16 models, spanning: the iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Plus, and iPhone 16, have already received domestic component-level certificates.
Febri Hendri Antoni Arief, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, stated that the ministry has issued domestic component-level certificates for 20 Apple products, including 11 mobile phone certificates and nine tablet computer certificates. Each certificate was signed by the Head of the Domestic Product Development Center (P3DN) at the Ministry of Industry.
“We have issued TKDN certificates for 20 Apple products. The issuance of these 20 certificates followed Apple being penalized for non-compliance during the 2020-2023 period and subsequently adhering to regulations related to the domestic component level policy for mobile phones, handheld computers, and tablets, as stipulated in Minister of Industry Regulation No. 29 of 2017,” Febri explained on Friday (03/07) in Jakarta.
Before these 20 products from the US-based company can be marketed domestically, they must obtain post and telecommunications certificates from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi). These certificates are a prerequisite for Apple to obtain import product registration marks from the Ministry of Industry. The import product registration marks are required for all imported Apple products to obtain International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers and Import Approvals from the Ministry of Trade.
Febri elaborated, “After receiving the 20 TKDN certificates, Apple can now obtain post and telecommunication certificates for all these products from Komdigi. Once the domestic component level and post and telecommunications certificates are secured, Apple will receive import product registration marks for all Apple products, which will be required to obtain IMEI numbers from CEIR and import approvals from the Ministry of Trade.”
