Heaptalk, Jakarta — Celebrating its 6th anniversary, the digital insurance provider company (insurtech) We+ introduced Maternity Insurance, a product issued by Oona Insurance Indonesia. This launch makes We+ the first Insurtech in Indonesia to offer pregnancy insurance products through a digital platform.

The Ministry of Health recorded that the number of maternal deaths reached 4,005 in 2022 and increased to 4,129 in 2023. However, no insurance in Indonesia sells individual pregnancy insurance. Responding to this need, We+ presents the Maternity Insurance product from Oona Insurance to support future mothers. Under We+’s vision to focus on micro insurance, this Maternity Insurance product is designed to provide comprehensive protection and can be purchased when the pregnancy reaches 13 weeks of age.

“Oona Insurance sees the importance of having additional products to cover things that are not yet covered in general insurance,” said dr. Stefanus Yogi Winoto, Head of Underwriting Division at Oona Insurance Indonesia in East Jakarta (05/15). Therefore, this Maternity Insurance offers two benefits: basic and enhanced maternity plans.

The Basic Plan provides benefits, including compensation for room costs due to pregnancy complications before delivery, compensation after the first diagnosis of one of the pregnancy complications before delivery, and up to 30 days after delivery. The policy owner will also receive death compensation for the mother before delivery and up to one month after delivery, as well as child death compensation for fetal death from birth to 30 days after the child’s birth.

Meanwhile, the Enhanced Maternity Plan includes Basic Plan benefits plus several benefits, such as receiving compensation after birth or up to 60 days after birth if one of the birth complications or birth defects is diagnosed for the first time. The policy owner will also receive compensation after the first diagnosis of one of the complications or growth and development disorders determined after birth until the child is five years old and compensation for the death of the child due to a congenital condition from the age of 31 days after birth, up to the age of 5 years.

KlikDokter provides integrated digital platform for health services

We+ is also collaborating with the digital health service platform KlikDokter to expand access to the Oona Maternity Insurance product. KlikDokter was chosen as a partner as it provides comprehensive digital health services and products, including teleconsultation and medication redemption, through integrated platforms in the website and app.

“Maternity insurance is critical since this is the first time in Indonesia that we have launched pregnancy insurance that people can buy when pregnant. We want to mark our collaboration with one of the leading pharmacies in Indonesia, represented by KlikDokter,” We+ CEO Fifi Henirawati said at the launch event in East Jakarta (05/15).

On the occasion, KlikDokter CEO Hendra Tjong said that his party had collaborated with We+ for over 1.5 years, and the platform had been integrated into the We+ application. “We are integrated in the We+ application for teleconsultation and medication redemption. You can talk to the doctor, and after that, you can buy the medicine, and the medicine will be delivered directly via Grab/GoJek,” Hendra said in East Jakarta (05/15).

Hendra further hopes that KlikDokter can offer other health insurance products from We+. “Maternity insurance is exciting as Kalbe also has products for pregnant women such as Prenagen and Morinaga products for children. We also have the HaloBumil application. “In the future, I hope we can offer many other products from We+,” concluded Hendra.
