Heaptalk, Jakarta — Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan announced on Sunday (14/07) that the ministry has prepared strategies to overcome global trade barriers.
One of these strategies involves requesting that the Trade Representatives of the Ministry of Trade stationed in various countries worldwide build and strengthen strategies to tackle global trade barriers.
“Indonesia’s exports to various countries worldwide are expected to proceed smoothly without disruptions. With specific strategies, the Ministry of Trade is optimistic about seizing many export opportunities and ensuring that the trade surplus trend can be maintained,” Zulkifli conveyed.
Additionally, he emphasized the importance of collaboration and hard work to achieve national export targets. He said, “Immediately finalize pending trade agreements, such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and Free Trade Agreement (FTA), to face more competitive future markets.”
Furthermore, the ministry has formulated export enhancement strategies discussed in the Coordination Meeting and Technical Meeting of Overseas Trade Representatives 2024, held in Melbourne, Australia, from July 10-12, 2024. Some of the formulated strategies include strengthening the transformation of export structures through enhancing the role of Trade Representatives in boosting the export of manufactured products to accredited countries; strengthening exports through the provision of digital information, trade digitalization, and electronic trading systems; and increasing coordination, innovation, and synergy among Trade Representatives, the Indonesian Embassies, ministries and agencies, local governments, and business actors.

Acting Secretary-General of the Ministry of Trade, Suhanto, added that the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2024, held from October 9-12, 2024, at ICE BSD Tangerang, can be used to boost exports. “At this event, Trade Representatives are expected to facilitate transactions and sign purchase contracts with potential buyers,” Suhanto concluded.
