Heaptalk, Jakarta — The South Tangerang City Government is conducting a home renovation program to reduce social inequality. “This home renovation program is not solely about building houses, but also about building hope and dignity for the community,” said Vice Mayor of South Tangerang, Pilar Saga Ichsan, after inaugurating one of the renovated homes in Pondok Aren District.
Pilar also shared some inspiring stories from residents who have benefited from the home renovation program. He said, “There were residents who were frequently ill as their homes were uninhabitable. After their homes were renovated, their health improved.”
One of the beneficiaries, Najih, expressed his deep gratitude. “My house used to leak and was fragile; now it has become a comfortable place for my family,” said Najih.
On this occasion, Pilar explained that many South Tangerang residents, especially those living in villages, still need decent housing. This program targets homes that leak, have dirt floors, or have damaged walls, as the city government wants its residents to be healthy by having decent homes.

Meanwhile, Mayor Benyamin Davnie stated that 510 houses will be included in the renovation program in 2024. He said, “Alhamdulillah, the home renovation program is going well. The South Tangerang City Government strives to continue providing the best community services, including implementing the RUTLH improvement program.”
This program was proposed through the Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbang), and its implementation is divided into several stages. The first stage includes the handover of 255 houses, while the second stage began in June 2024. The details of the number of houses renovated in each district show the wide scale of this effort. In Ciputat, 68 houses were renovated, while in East Ciputat and Pamulang, 65 houses each were renovated.
