“On behalf of Tarakan Government and society, I would like to thank all related parties for supporting and involving directly to accelerate digitalization in the region,” stated the Mayor of Tarakan, Khairul (10/03).
Heaptalk, Jakarta – The effort of Tarakan Government in accelerating digitalization obtained great appreciation from the central government. During the national coordination meeting for The Acceleration and Expansion of Regional Digitalization (TP2DD), the city won Best City category in TP2DD Awards.
This award was presented directly by the Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs to the city’s Mayor Khairul. Seizing this prestigious award, Khairul delivered his great appreciation for the award. He conveyed that this achievement was generated by the collaboration of Tarakan Government, TP2DD, Bank Indonesia, and the local bank Bank Pembangunan Daerah (BPD) Kaltimtara branch Tarakan.
“On behalf of Tarakan Government and society, I would like to thank all related parties for supporting and involving directly to accelerate digitalization in the region,” stated Mayor Khairul (10/03).
Khairul, who also acts as the head of TP2DD in Tarakan, stated that the local government will continue to drive and expand digitalization in the region. The local government also will uphold the city’s vision, namely to become an advanced and prosperous city through Smart City. The system is developed to enhance innovation and efficiency in public services.
Tarakan City’s effort to accelerate and expand digitalization in the last few years demonstrated significant results. Regional Government Transaction Electronification Index enhanced from 93% to 97.5% in 2022. This result is driven by the massive implementation of non-cash transactions which was carried out by the local government.
Winning this award, Khairul conveyed that this achievement can motivate municipal governments and related stakeholders to expedite the acceleration of digital transactions across Indonesia.
“Previously, we conducted transactions manually, and we found several issues, such as fraud. By implementing digitalization, we strive to overcome this problem. Moreover, this measure also is the mitigation for unexpected accidents such as theft and robbery. It also can save paper. Digitalization certainly brings multiple benefits,” said Khairul.
Regarding the challenge in carrying out digital transformation, Khairul affirmed that the government encountered no considerable challenge because Tarakan has adequate infrastructure and IT networks.
