Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Department of Agriculture and Food Security (DPKP) of Tangerang Regency organized the Affordable Food Movement (GPM) to stabilize food supply and prices in the parking area of the Regional Business Building of Tangerang Regency Government. (06/14)

The Head of DPKP, Asep Jatnika, explained that implementing the GPM movement aims to retain the stability of food supply and prices (SPHP). This movement is a measure to anticipate, mitigate, and address food shortages that could lead to food and nutrition crises, control inflation, and protect producers and consumers from price fluctuations.

The primary goal of the GPM is to ensure the stability of food supply and prices and support inflation control in the Tangerang Regency.

“The commodities sold during this event include rice, garlic, shallots, various types of chilies, eggs, chicken meat, beef, cooking oil, vegetables, sugar, flour, and various MSME and local food products,” he mentioned.

He also highlighted that all necessities are sold below market prices, allowing the residents of Tangerang Regency to benefit directly from the Affordable Food Movement.

“Many people came to purchase necessities as this event greatly helps the community, specifically in Tangerang Regency,” Asep added.

According to him, GPM significantly contributes to the community by providing affordable food below market prices and ensuring the availability and stability of food supplies to curb inflation in Tangerang Regency.

“We expected that this movement could help the community fulfill their basic food needs today,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, as a buyer, Anis recognized that the GPM event, with its below-market prices, benefits the regency’s community.

“I appreciate the Tangerang Regency government for conducting the Affordable Food Movement. This event completely bolsters the community, and I look forward to the agenda would be a monthly event,” Anis added.

For further information, the prices of essential commodities are as follows:

  • Rice for Rp57,500 per 5 kg
  • Eggs for Rp26,000 per kg
  • Cooking oil at Rp16,500 per kg
  • Sugar for Rp17,500 per kg
  • Frozen chicken meat for Rp32,500 per kg
  • Frozen beef at Rp110,000 per kg

On this occasion, the Acting Regent of Tangerang, Andy Oni, inspected the GPM and its stands directly and conversed with the food business participants of the Affordable Food Movement.
