Heaptalk, Jakarta — Representing the Acting Governor, Police Commissioner General (Ret.), Andap Budhi Revianto, Southeast Sulawesi Regional Secretary, Asrun Lio, attended the Central and Regional Coordination Meeting of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID), organized by the Directorate General of Regional Development, Ministry of Home Affairs in Jakarta. Asrun Lio announced that Southeast Sulawesi ranked seventh in national inflation and had won the TPID Award 2024 in the Best Performing Province category for the Sulawesi region.
Asrun Lio, Head of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID), remarked, “The inflation trend in Southeast Sulawesi can show a controlled condition and continues to decrease. We are in seventh place among the ten provinces with the lowest inflation rates nationally, recording 1.73% in July 2024, according to the BPS report released on August 1, 2024.”
For t” is an achievement, Asrun Lio and Acting Governor Andap expressed their appreciation and gratitude to all parties involved in controlling inflation in Southeast Sulawesi, from ensuring sufficient stock and availability of goods to maintaining stable prices that remain affordable for the public.
“This remains our collective responsibility—to continue managing the inflation rate in Southeast Sulawesi from the provincial and city governments, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), regional-owned enterprises (BUMD), the private sector, and other relevant parties. I also urge the public to prioritize essential needs when shopping and avoid panic buying. Let’s collaborate in maintaining and stabilizing the region,” he said.
During the meeting, Asrun Lio also shared that the Director General of Regional Development at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Restuardy Daud, MSc, highlighted the ten provinces with the lowest inflation rates, with the top spots going to Babel, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Papua, South Papua, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Southeast Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southwest Papua, and South Kalimantan.
The Director General further explained that in the third week of August 2024, the Price Growth Index (IPH) for Southeast Sulawesi stood at -1.55, marking a decline, placing the province among the lowest inflation rates nationwide.
“For the Price Growth Index in the third week of August 2024, several commodities saw price increases, including bird’s eye chili in 260 cities and districts across Indonesia, followed by red chili in 151 regions, and cooking oil in 146 areas,” he elaborated.
Restuardy also outlined that inflation control policies for 2024 align with the President’s directives during the 2024 National Inflation Control Coordination Meeting (Rakornas). The President of Indonesia provided five critical directions to TPIP and TPID in the 2024 Rakornas, focusing on strategies for safeguarding production and improving the efficiency of the food supply chain.
