Heaptalk, Jakarta — The South Tangerang City Government continues to advance the MRT construction project by considering the most effective route to serve the community.
Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang, Pilar Saga Ichsan, emphasized that one of the critical aspects of this study is determining the optimal route between two options. “The route has not been decided yet; there is a choice between Pondok Cabe or Ciputat and another option through Bintaro. We are still realizing which one is faster and more efficient to be implemented,”
According to the preliminary study by MRT Jakarta, this project will encompass two potential northern and southern corridors. The north corridor will cover the Pondok Aren—Serpong route, while the south corridor will pass through Ciputat—Pondok Cabe. Both routes will be connected to the central station in Lebak Bulus, Jakarta.
Pilar is optimistic that both corridors will significantly benefit mobility and the economy in Tangsel. “God willing, both can be built simultaneously. This will be even better because we will have two routes to enhance connectivity,” Pilar concluded.
According to Pilar, no significant obstacles have been encountered in this process. The project is still in the feasibility study stage, which PT MRT Jakarta is conducting. The results are expected to be completed by December.
“We are still waiting for the feasibility study results from PT MRT, which are expected to be completed by December. The process is still ongoing,” Pilar added.
Currently, the South Tangerang City Government is still in the stage of socialization and intensive discussions with various stakeholders, including PT MRT Jakarta, the Banten Provincial Government, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the Ministry of Transportation, and private parties. With the various steps already taken and ongoing discussions, the South Tangerang City Government is optimistic that the MRT construction will soon be realized and positively impact the community.
