Heaptalk, Jakarta — South Tangerang City government seized the Kejar Award 2024 from Indonesia’s Financial Service Authority (OJK) for its outstanding implementation of the “One Student, One Account” (Kejar) program.
“Through collaboration with banks, the South Tangerang City Government successfully opened 5,862 student savings accounts in 2023, and as of August 2024, an additional 3,607 accounts have been created under the One Student, One Account initiative. This program is one of the critical priorities of the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD) of South Tangerang,” said the Head of the Economic Department of the South Tangerang City Government, Ucok Siagian.
This achievement reflects the region government’s commitment to promoting saving behavior from an early age. TPAKD continues to encourage this initiative in regional schools to increase financial literacy.
“The award results from the commitment and policies led by the city’s leadership, particularly the Mayor. He has directed the TPAKD to ensure the successful implementation of the One Student, One Account program,” added Ucok Siagian.
Mayor Benyamin Davnie emphasized that while the recognition is significant, it further enhances financial literacy among South Tangerang students.
“This matter must continue to grow and expand, ensuring that students in the region, even from a young age, understand the importance of financial literacy, especially the value of saving,” he said.
Additionally, he highlighted that having a student bank account simplifies the government’s process of providing educational assistance, ensuring it can be utilized effectively to help students achieve their dreams.
