Heaptalk, Jakarta — The city government will build 800 communal septic tanks in South Tangerang to create a healthy community.
“Thank God, today I inaugurated the construction or rehabilitation of septic tanks, with approximately 800 points in 2024,” said South Tangerang Mayor Benyamin Davnie in Benda Baru Village, Pamulang District, some time ago.
The construction of communal septic tanks uses technology to change traditional disposal methods. Benyamin said, “The waste processing in these septic tanks uses technology and bacteria. Thus, the water and air released from them are not harmful.”
In more detail, the construction of septic tanks continues from the previous year. In 2023, the South Tangerang City Government has built 1,800 septic tanks; in 2024, the government will build 800 points. “Next year, we will continue according to the requests from the community. These septic tanks are made of fiber. There are also bacteria planted in them,” he said.
According to Benyamin, this program is a commitment to creating a healthy city, in addition to the home renovation program that has been carried out. He added, “This continues the Healthy City and home renovation programs. The goal is to increase the community’s life expectancy and create a healthy environment.”
The septic tank program will continue in 2025 with potentially more significant targets. “One septic tank costs Rp10 million for the index,” he concluded.
