Heaptalk, Jakarta — Following an official visit to Doha, Qatar, President Prabowo Subianto announced that Qatar is ready to invest US$2 billion, or approximately IDR 33.6 trillion, in the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency, (Danantara Indonesia).

“He (the Emir of Qatar) will invest through Danantara. It will be a joint fund. He committed to US$2 billion just earlier,” said Prabowo in a press statement on Sunday (04/13).

Furthermore, Prabowo viewed the Emir of Qatar’s intention positively. He stated, “I think this is great—it’s a follow-up, and he is very enthusiastic.”

During the bilateral meeting, Prabowo and Sheikh Tamim witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the State of Qatar.

The key document, formally titled the “Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Dialogue between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of the State of Qatar,” was signed by Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

According to the Presidential Secretariat’s official statement, the MoU marks an important milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation by establishing a Strategic Dialogue mechanism, which will be held annually at the level of Foreign Ministers. In addition, a Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) will be held as a preparatory forum for the Strategic Dialogue. At the same time, Ad Hoc Working Groups may be formed to carry out specific cooperation programs.

The Strategic Dialogue aims to foster more intensive cooperation across multiple strategic sectors, including the investment in Danantara Indonesia. These include politics, international and regional issues, defense and security, economy and energy, agriculture and food security, tourism, science and technology, health, sports, youth affairs, protection of Indonesian migrant workers, and collaboration in various multilateral forums.

The signing of this MoU reflects the strong commitment of both countries to broaden and deepen mutually beneficial bilateral relations. It is also expected to strengthen Indonesia and Qatar’s roles in jointly addressing global challenges.
