Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) stated that smooth roads are being constructed in the new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), and surrounding areas.
Director-General of Highways Rachman Arief Dienaputra emphasized that road development will be handled through regular allocations or under the Presidential Instruction (Inpres) on Regional Roads (IJD) scheme, which President Joko Widodo inaugurated for ten access points throughout East Kalimantan.
Rachman Arief stated, “In principle, roads that support the capital and fall under the authority of the Ministry of PUPR will be addressed. However, we currently do not have a specific program for this. Several supporting access roads will be handled through regular allocation or the IJD.”
The Directorate General of Highways previously completed work on ten road segments and one bridge, totaling 50.9 kilometers in East Kalimantan. This road construction is part of the president’s instructions for developing road infrastructure in East Kalimantan Province.
