Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Head of Binyan Subdit SIM Dit-Regident Korlantas Polri, AKB Andri Pratomo, urged society in seven regions to have BPJS Kesehatan if they want to manage their driver license, effective July 1st, 2024. The seven regions cover Aceh, West Sumatera, South Sumatera, DKI Jakarta, East Kalimantan, Bali, and East Nusa Tenggara.
“A trial implementation will be conducted from July 1, 2024, to September 30, 2024, in seven regional police areas, namely Polda Aceh, Polda West Sumatra, Polda South Sumatra, Polda Metro Jaya, Polda East Kalimantan, Polda Bali, and Polda East Nusa Tenggara,” said AKBP Faisal Andri.
Regarding BPJS Kesehatan as one of the requirements for managing driver’s licenses, it is actually stated in Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2022. President Joko Widodo instructed the Chief of the Indonesian National Police to make BPJS Kesehatan a requirement for managing driver’s licenses, vehicle registration certificates (STNK), and Police Clearance Certificates.
The requirement to have BPJS for managing driver’s licenses is also included in the Regulation of the Indonesian National Police No. 2 of 2023, which amends Regulation No. 5 of 2021 on the Issuance and Marking of Driver’s Licenses, article 9.
Meanwhile, the Director of BPJS Kesehatan Membership, David Bangun, in the same press release, said, “The public need not worry, this is just a trial phase. In the first week, we will provide BPJS Kesehatan officers at all Polda offices in the trial locations to conduct socialization and education for driver’s license applicants. If the applicants are not yet JKN participants, registration can be done through the PANDAWA WhatsApp chat or the Mobile JKN application. The process can also be directly guided by BPJS Kesehatan officers there.”
