Heaptalk, Jakarta — Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), Yahya Cholil Staquf, announced that the organization will soon establish a business structure to manage coal mining operations.
“NU will establish a business and management structure that ensures professionalism and accountability in both the management and utilization of its resources,” said Yahya.
PBNU’s preparation of the business structure for coal mine management follows the announcement made by the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM, Bahlil Lahadalia, on the same day. He confirmed that a mining business permit (IUP) for coal management will soon be issued to the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board. Bahlil stated that the license is being granted due to PBNU’s significant contributions to national development.
“Based on several ministers’ mandates and considerations, and with the approval of President Jokowi, we will grant a coal concession with substantial reserves to PBNU to help optimize the organization,” said Bahlil.
He mentioned that the process of issuing the concession permit is now in its final stages and promised to sign the license shortly. “I am proud of NU, as I was born to a mother who was a cadre of NU,” he added.
President Joko Widodo signed Government Regulation (PP) 25/2024 on Thursday (05/30), which amends PP 96/2021 regarding implementing mineral and coal mining business activities. Article 83A of PP 25/2024 stipulates that the new regulation allows religious organizations such as NU and Muhammadiyah to manage particular mining permit areas (WIUPK).
“This policy will serve as an effective channel to deliver the benefits of economic resources mandated by the Government to Nahdlatul Ulama,” concluded the Raudlatut Thalibin Islamic Boarding School Caregiver, Rembang, Central Java.
