Heaptalk, Jakarta – North Morowali Government introduced the local natural resources and its tourist destinations to society in Apkasi Otonomi Expo (AOE) 2024.

Participating in the national scale exhibition, the Head of Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Department (DPMPTSP) Armansyah A. P. voiced, ”Through this event, we hope our potential can be noticed by investors.” (07/10).

Armansyah stated that North Morowali has tremendous potential, particularly for its nickel. The Regency, even, is claimed to be one of the largest raw material suppliers of EV batteries in Indonesia.

Moreover, instead of nickel, Armansyah conveyed that the Regency also has a large potential for chromium, gold, and limestone. The local authority has also collaborated with Universitas Hasanuddin to explore the other mineral potentials in North Morowali.

“We continue to dig for more information about North Morowali’s natural resources. We also cooperate with Universitas Hasanuddin to seek the quality of minerals in our area,” stated Armansyah.

In order to attract investors, North Morowali Government reportedly has simplified the procedure for mining location permits which known as Approval of the Suitability of Space Utilization Activities (PKKPR).

“Thank God, according to our target, the (PKKPR) permission can be released in only two weeks. In other regions, it can take longer, maybe months or several years,” Armansyah added, “The most important point is the investors’ serious intention to inject their capital in the regency.”

During the agenda, North Morowali also showcased its tourism potency, particularly the natural tourist destination. According to the Regency’s Head of Communication and Informatics Department, who is also the former Head of Tourism and Economy Creative Department, Gatot Susilo, North Morowali offers comprehensive potential perceiving its natural resources and tourist destination.

Gatot said, “For example, Bajo Island, this tourist destination possesses Raja Ampat’s natural wonders. In this place, visitors can witness stunning coral clusters.”

Regarding the nature conservation, Gatot emphasized, “Although North Morowali is famous for its mining area, the local government is very concerned about preserving its nature, notably for its tourist destinations.”
