Heaptalk, Jakarta — Digital transformation is essential to realizing increasingly better and integrated public services. Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas emphasized this urgency to the participants of the Regular Education Program (PPRA) Batch LXVI of 2024 at the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) in Jakarta. “As future leaders, we must comprehend that the accomplishment of digital transformation and service integration lies in management shifting and a robust organizational culture. Leadership commitment is one of the keys,” he stated.
Minister Anas explained two aspects focusing on the transformation towards Golden Indonesia 2045: the transformation of government performance accountability (AKIP) and digital transformation along with the integration of digital services. He perceived that the archipelago is at a crossroads and a crucial period of government digital transformation, which will determine the nation’s digital realms for the next few decades.
The former Head of the Government Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP) mentioned multiple initiatives the government has taken to drive the success of the digital transformation journey. First was the launch of Government Technology (GovTech) Indonesia, named INA Digital by President Joko Widodo.
INA Digital integrates digital government services fragmented into thousands of applications owned by ministries/agencies and local governments. The integration and interoperability of digital services have become a pattern in several advanced countries, simplifying the public’s access to various government services.
“Success stories of digitalization in development have also occurred in other countries. India achieved its projected development target for 47 years in just seven years, accelerating by 40 years. Estonia experienced a tenfold GDP growth in 20 years through digitalization. China significantly reduced poverty in 5 years through digital financial inclusion,” he explained.
Furthermore, the government has successfully simplified the business process for event licensing services. This ease of licensing aims to attract more international tourists to Indonesia. Digitalization provides solutions for comfort, certainty, and reducing bureaucracy.
“Event licensing is just one of many applications that will be integrated into the national integrated public service portal. The government will realize an integrated public service portal based on the human life journey needs from birth to old age and even death,” he said.
Minister Anas urged the future leaders and current participants of PPRA Batch LXVI of 2024 Lemhannas to become digitally minded leaders. These leaders will be role models and bring digital transformation breakthroughs to their institutions.
“We expect the participants of PPRA Batch LXVI of 2024 Lemhannas can take part in delivering positive impact of digitalization to the public, and every policy made by the government or friends in their respective institutions can continue to bring change to a more agile and straightforward bureaucracy,” he concluded.
