Heaptalk, Surabaya — The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) held Smart City Forum from 12 – 14 June 2023. Taking place in Surabaya, the forum is expected to deliver in-depth knowledge and insight regarding the adoption of Smart City in the region.
Surabaya Mayor, Eri Cahyadi, stated, “This forum is taking place in Surabaya because this city has adopted digital-based services. Further, Surabaya’s Smart City is a place for all regions to learn and integrate their systems”. (06/12)
Ery also affirmed that instead of competing with each other, this moment is the best time to learn and share the experience, thus other regions can develop together.
“This is not about win or lose, not about willingness to adopt or not, but this is the time for all regions to unite and elevate for society.
He added that several of Surabaya’s applications can be adopted in other regions for the sake of society. For this initiative, Eri conveyed that the enthusiasm of the region’s leaders is tremendous. Even, several mayors and regents ensure their information departments head to sign MoU with Surabaya’s government.
Meanwhile, Eri conveyed that Surabaya also is possible to adopt other regions’ apps if it suits to be implemented in the city. He delivered that the most essential point is discarding the leaders’ ego in order to building the regions together. Every region has its own strength and weakness.
In terms of Smart City implementation in the region, Eri stated, “No more paper in Surabaya Government’s service. No more offline meeting. For this reason, I conclude that we have to start improving the literacy from community unit (RW), so society will easy to get assistance in using apps if they found any problems.”
Attending this event, expert staff of Kominfo’s Minister in the field of technology Mochamad Hadiyana stated that this event is expected to accelerate Smart City development in Indonesia Thus, all regions can collaborate and synergize to escalate effectiveness and efficiency in Smart City development.
