Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Special Staff of the Ministry of Trade for International Trade Agreement Field, Bara Krishna Hasibuan, denied the issue, which accused the Ministry of being the mastermind of the illegal import problem in Indonesia.
In contrary, Bara mentioned that the Minister continue to protect and safe the national industry through imposition of anti-dumping import duties (BMAD) and import duties security measures (BMTP) or known as safeguard.
“In the last five years, Trade Ministry has put its maximum effort into protecting the national industry. This can be seen from multiple investigations for import products and the stipulation of BMTP and BMAD,” stated Bara in Trade Ministry Office on Monday (07/15).
To battle illegal import, Trade Ministry also will form task force to investigate the cause of the large number of illegal imported product entering Indonesia. The task force will collaborate with other ministries and agencies and will run immediately after being approved by Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan.
“We hope the process can be finished this week. So, after the mandate is signed, the task force can work immediately,” uttered Bara.
The reference of the task force is based on the Associations’ data which are reported to the Ministry. Further, the task force will check the import report, and also the price of import products compares to other countries.
“Thus, the difference can be seen after comparing the country’s export number, our export data, and the import number from this certain country; we found a significant difference,” Bara stated.
