Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) has collaborated with the Tribune Network for Government Agencies on the Mata Lokal Fest 2024: Local Thriving in the Digital Era. The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi, appreciated the agenda as an effort to support regional progress throughout Indonesia.
In his speech, Minister Budi emphasized that an Indonesia-centric approach in the digital sector is necessary to ensure an equitable distribution of digital talent and centralize digital progress in certain areas.
“This digital advancement must also consider aspects of equity as we must realize Indonesia-centric development,” he stated at the Mata Lokal Fest 2024 at Hotel Menara Peninsula. (5/17)
He added that Indonesia can only make a progress if all regions advance in the digital field. “What worries me the most is the digital talent gap. This is our challenge moving forward because this gap will result in talent being concentrated in only several regions,” he affirmed.
Budi believes that efforts must be continually made to mobilize the potential of overall regions to provide opportunities for numerous local partners across Indonesia. Minister Budi believes Indonesians can adapt and innovate to make the archipelago a developed country by 2045.
“I believe Indonesians have the power, resources, capacity, and creativity to embrace the disruptive digital era,” he said.
Based on Minister Budi, Indonesia’s wealth of local wisdom must be developed using technology to gain global recognition. “Indonesia has diverse local wisdom that can be developed in the digital era, one of which is the Lontar weaving art, a traditional craft of the East Flores community. Optimal use of technology can make lontar leaf weaving products known on a national and even global scale,” he affirmed.
The Minister advised that local wisdom values should be preserved amidst various advancements and the onslaught of digital technological disruption. “Digital transformation is accelerated for the nation’s aspirations. Local wisdom is a source of inspiration for a Prosperous Advanced Indonesia,” he concluded.
